Two vacancies exist for Master’s to serve on board Orkney Ferries vessels, primarily on the above vessel, however you will be required to cover other routes as required.
This is a permanent position. The Rota for this is 2 weeks on/off plus an additional 4 weeks annual leave per complete year. Minimum certification required for this position is:
- STCW Certificate of Competency as Master 200GT / Yacht master Offshore commercially endorsed / Boat masters license (must cover Orkney). Consideration will be given to candidates with a higher qualification.
- GMDSS GOC.
- Valid ENG1.
- Updated STCW Personal Survival Techniques.
- Updated STCW Fire Prevention and Fire Fighting, Advanced.
- Updated STCW Advanced Fire Fighting.
- Updated STCW Proficiency in Survival Craft and Rescue Boats.
- Updated STCW Medical Care Onboard Ship.
Ideally candidates should also hold the following, but training will be provided for the right candidate.
- STCW Crowd Management.
- STCW Passenger Safety, Cargo Safety and Hull Integrity.
- STCW Crisis Management and Human Behaviour.
The successful candidate will be required to adhere to the company’s policies, including the Drug and Alcohol Policy which includes provision for random testing without cause.
The salary scale is £46,374 up to £55,246 p.a. plus DIA which is currently £2,997, subject to qualifications and experience. The Company operates a contributory pension scheme currently at 15% and a sick pay scheme.

Two vacancies exist for Technical Deckhand’s to serve on board Orkney Ferries vessels, primarily on the above vessel, however you will be required to cover other routes as required.
This is a permanent position. The Rota for this is 2 weeks on/off plus an additional 4 weeks annual leave per complete year. Minimum certification required for this position is:
- STCW small Vessel second engineer or higher OR a proven engineering background with MCA AEC part I & II.
- Additional Engineering training may be considered for otherwise strong candidates who are short of any of the above MCA qualifications.
- Valid ENG1.
- EDH Certificate.
- STCW PSSR.
- Updated STCW Personal Survival Techniques.
- Updated STCW Fire Prevention and Fire Fighting.
- Updated STCW Proficiency in Survival Craft and Rescue Boats.
Ideally candidates should also hold the following, but training will be provided for the right candidate.
- STCW Crowd Management.
- STCW Passenger Safety, Cargo Safety and Hull Integrity.
- STCW Crisis Management and Human Behavior.
- MCA Approved Engine Course (part 1 and 2), or Marine Engine Operator License.
The salary scale is £40,831 up to £45,485 p.a. plus DIA which is currently £2,997, subject to qualifications and experience The Company operates a contributory pension scheme currently at 15% and a sick pay scheme.

- Minimum requirement, valid Masters CoC or STCW Boat Master License - Passenger Vessel Operations: up to 250 passengers within following areas: Cat D Kirkwall / Specified Areas.

We are looking to recruit a committed and enthusiastic individual to become part of the Customer Service team within the Orkney Ferries offices.
This position represents a challenging opportunity assisting in a range of duties including customer services, dealing with enquiries and taking bookings and details for the Ferry booking system and administrative support.
Candidates should hold a qualification at SCQF 5/6 i.e., SVQ2, National 5, Standard Grades, O Grade, Intermediate 2, SVQ3, Higher, National Certificate, Foundation Apprenticeship, or, where the essential qualification is not held, you should have a minimum of 2 years previous relevant experience, as detailed in the experience section of this person specification.
Candidates will also be able to demonstrate the ability to establish good working relationships with all levels of staff and to provide a professional service to the public. With a busy workload you must be organised and able to work on own initiative and prioritise work in order to cope with tight deadlines. Excellent organisational, administrative and communication skills are essential for this role.
