Technical Superintendent - FER2630

£72,665 to £79,202 per year (Inclusive of Distant Islands Allowance and Shift Allowance)

An exciting opportunity to join the Technical Team at Orkney Ferries as Technical Superintendent has arisen.

Orkney Ferries operates 11 vessels providing a life-line service to the inter islands of Orkney and this role would be to manage and provide suitable technical shore-based support and resources to the Technical Team, Chief Engineers and other Engineering Sea Staff on the ferries along with providing technical support for the ferries shore infrastructure.

There will also be a requirement to assist with the implementation and maintenance of the ISM and PMSC’s Safety Management Systems, in areas related to engineering systems.

The post will carry out ship visits alongside in all weather conditions. Attend refit and repair shipyards for the duration of the contract and remain at that location for the duration of the works, anywhere in the UK, this includes a scheduled refit programme on an annual basis.

or

STCW III/1 - Officer in Charge of Engineering Watch CoC may be considered along with other relevant academic or professional qualification which leads to exemptions from the academic qualifications for STCW III/2 Chief or Second Engineer. Extended supervisory experience in heavy engineering or marine roles will be expected

or

STCW III/3 - Chief/Second Engineer 750 – 3000 kW CoC may be considered along with other relevant academic professional qualification which leads to exemptions from the academic qualifications for STCW III/2 Chief or Second Engineer. Extended supervisory experience in heavy engineering or marine roles will be expected. Where applicable, training to gain the higher classification may be provided to the suitable candidate.

You should hold a Full and Current UK Driving License.

Assistant Marine Superintendent - FER2631

Orkney Ferries is seeking to recruit an Assistant Marine Superintendent to join our Ferry Operations team.

This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in supporting the safe, efficient and compliant operation of our fleet and ferry services. The successful candidate will act as a Designated Person Ashore (DPA), providing the crucial link between ship and shore management, with direct access to the Chief Executive and Board of Directors on matters relating to safety and operational performance.

Working closely with the Marine Superintendents, you will support vessel operations, crew training, regulatory compliance, safety management and continuous improvement across the organisation.
