Current Vacancies
A permanent vacancy exists for a Master to serve onboard Orkney Ferries vessels, primarily on the Rousay, Egilsay and Wyre service. However, you may be required to cover on other routes as required.
Applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced officers to fill this post. Applicants must hold as minimum:
- Valid Masters STCW CoC or Boat Master License - Passenger Vessel Operations: up to 250 passengers within following areas: Cat D Kirkwall / Rousay.
- GMDSS ROC or equivalent.
- Valid ENG1
- Updated STCW Personal Survival Techniques
- Updated STCW Fire Prevention and Fire Fighting
- Updated STCW Elementary first aid
Ideally candidates should also hold the following, but training will be provided for the right candidate.
- STCW Crowd Management
- STCW Passenger Safety, Cargo Safety and Hull Integrity
- STCW Crisis Management and Human Behavior
The successful candidate will be required to adhere to the company’s policies, including the Drug and Alcohol Policy which includes provision for random testing without cause.
Candidates must be prepared to reside on Rousay when on duty shift.
The salary scale for this post is £51,133 to £60,342 pa inclusive of DIA (currently £2,997) subject to qualifications and experience.
The Company operates a contributory pension scheme currently at 15% and a sick pay scheme.
