Vacancies exist for 6 Summer Stewards for the forthcoming Summer season to serve on board Orkney Ferries vessels, primarily on the route above. Duties will be varied. The Rota for this is 1 week on/1 week off.

Certification required for this position is as detailed below, however training will be provided if a candidate does not hold any/or some of the certifications:

  • Valid ENG 1 medical certificate.
  • STCW PSSR.
  • STCW Elementary First Aid.
  • STCW Personal Survival Techniques.
  • STCW Fire Prevention & Fire Fighting (3-day course).

Candidates should ideally also hold Elementary Food Hygiene certificate

The salary scale is £23,407.00 plus DIA £2,742 per annum pro rata.

The Company operates a contributory pension scheme currently at 15% and a sick pay scheme.

Engineer - Ship & Shore - 1 Post

£50,233 to £62,745 (Including Distant Islands Allowance) depending on qualifications and experience.

An exciting opportunity to join the Technical Team at Orkney Ferries as Engineer – Ship & Shore has arisen. Orkney Ferries operates 10 vessels providing a life-line service to the inter islands of Orkney.

Applications are invited from candidates with either:

· STCW III/2 Chief Engineer up to 9000kw/ near coastal area or further advanced, or

· STCW III/2 (or 3) Second Engineer up to 6000Kw/ near costal or

· STCW III/1 Engineer Officers of the Watch unrestricted.

Where applicable, training to gain the higher classification may be provided to the suitable candidate. Those who qualifications have lapsed may also be considered and training provided.

The leave/work rota is based on 2 weeks on duty, 2 weeks on leave, when ship based, otherwise a 37 hour, 5 day week, when shore based; with pro rata holiday entitlement as per administration staff.

You should be able to travel efficiently and effectively between various work locations within Orkney to meet the operational requirements of the Service.
