Second Engineer (ONI Services) - FER2414

North Isles Services

A vacancy exists for a Second Engineer to serve on board our ONI vessels. This is a permanent position. The Rota for this is 2 weeks on/off plus an additional 4 weeks annual leave per complete year. Minimum certification required for this position is:

  • STCW Regulation III/3 Second Engineer up to 1500kW. Preference may be given to candidates with a higher qualification. Consideration will also be given to candidates holding III/1 OOW Engineering.
  • Valid ENG1.
  • STCW Medical First Aid
  • STCW PSSR.
  • Updated STCW Personal Survival Techniques.
  • Updated STCW Fire Prevention and Fire Fighting.
  • Updated STCW Advanced Fire Fighting.
  • Updated STCW Proficiency in Survival Craft and Rescue Boats.

Ideally candidates should also hold the following, but training will be provided for the right candidate.

  • STCW Crowd Management.
  • STCW Passenger Safety, Cargo Safety and Hull Integrity.
  • STCW Crisis Management and Human Behavior.

The salary scale is £49,628.00 to £52,615.00 p.a. plus D.I.A. (subject to qualifications and experience). The Company operates a contributory pension scheme and a sick pay scheme.

General Purpose Deck Rating - REW Service - FER2415

Rousay, Egilsay and Wyre Service

A vacancy exists for a General Purpose Deck Rating to serve on board Orkney Ferries vessels, primarily on the route above, however you will be required to cover on other routes as required.

Duties will be varied between deck rating, ticket collector or cook as required, this post will require a high level of interaction with the travelling public. On duty periods will be defined by the shift rota for the position.

Certification required for this position is as detailed below, however training will be provided if a candidate does not hold any/or some of the certifications:

  • Valid ENG 1 medical certificate.
  • STCW PSSR.
  • STCW Elementary First Aid.
  • STCW Personal Survival Techniques.
  • STCW Fire Prevention & Fire Fighting (3-day course).

Candidates should ideally also hold STCW Crowd Management, STCW Crisis Management and Human behaviour, STCW Passenger Safety Cargo Safety and Hull Integrity certification and Elementary Food Hygiene certificate but training for these can be provided for the successful candidate, if required.

Efficient Deck Hand (EDH) is desirable, but candidates not holding an EDH will be considered and will be required to gain their EDH certificate within 2 years.

Candidates must be prepared to reside on Rousay when on duty shift.

The salary scale is £30,388 to £34,122 pa plus DIA £2,742, subject to qualifications and experience.

The Company operates a contributory pension scheme currently at 15% and a sick pay scheme.

A vacancy exists for a General Purpose Deck Rating to serve on board Orkney Ferries vessels, primarily on the route above, however you will be required to cover on other routes as required.
