Travel Updates
There are multiple travel updates for our services.
  • We would like to advise customers that tomorrow morning’s 07:00 sailing to Westray has been cancelled

    The 16:20 sailing is under review, and an update will be provided tomorrow morning

    This is due to forecasted weather conditions

  • We would like to advise, the MV Hoy Head will return to service on Thursday the 27th of November, beginning in Houton at the 13:15 departure.

    The MV Thorsvoe will conduct the first morning departures and will terminate service at 09:45 in Houton.

    The 10:15 departure from Houton and subsequent Lyness and Flotta returns have been cancelled to accommodate the vessel change over with service returning to schedule at 13:15.

  • We would like to advise, due to an engine issue we have had to remove the MV Hoy Head from service for the next few days to allow inspection and repairs to be completed.

    The MV Thorsvoe will take over the route from the evening of Thursday the 20th to allow passenger to continue to travel.

    The MV Thorsvoe is scheduled to complete the Houton, Lyness and Flotta service until mid-day on Thursday the 27th of November.

    In result of this, there will be a reduction in vehicle space available.

  • PIEROWALL/PAPA WESTRAY SERVICE – THURSDAY 27TH NOVEMBER

    We would like to advise customers that the 16:00 departure from Pierowall to Papa Westray has been brought forward to 15:00, and the subsequent return from Papa Westray at 16:30 will now sail at 15:30.

    This is due to forecasted weather conditions.

    The 18:15 & 18:45 departures remain cancelled.

  • We would like to advise passengers that due to latest morning forecasts, the 16:00 sailing on Thursday 27th November, from Kirkwall to Eday/Stronsay will now depart at earlier time of 14:00 today. Amended times as follows:

    Depart Kirkwall: 14:00

    Arrive Eday: 15:15

    Depart Eday: 15:30

    Arrive Stronsay: 16:05

    Depart Stronsay: 16:15

    Arrive Kirkwall: 18:00

    This is due to forecasted weather conditions.

  • We would like to make customers aware that due to current forecasts of adverse weather conditions, there is possibility of disruption across our services on Friday the 28th of November.

    All booked passengers will be contacted where sailings are disrupted, and all updates will be provided on our social media and website.

  • We would like to advise customers that all morning sailings from Shapinsay to Kirkwall tomorrow have been cancelled

    All afternoon sailings are under review

    This is due to forecasted weather conditions

    An update will be provided when available

  • We would like to advise passengers that the 16:00 sailing from Pierowall to Papa Westray tomorrow is under review, and the 18:15 sailing is cancelled

    On Friday 28th November, all AM sailings on this service are cancelled

    All PM sailings on Friday are under review and updates will be provided upon the receipt of updated forecasts

  • Please be advised that the 13:30 departure from Kirkwall to Stronsay, Sanday & Eday on Thursday 27th is cancelled

    In addition, all Nordic Sea crossings to Stronsay, Sanday & Eday on Friday 28th November are also cancelled

    This is due to forecasted weather conditions.

  • We would like to advise, our service to Eday, Sanday and Stronsay will go ahead on Sunday the 30th of November however it will sail to a different schedule.

    This is to accommodate travel to a community event.

    The schedule of this sailing is as follows:

    Depart Kirkwall: 09:00

    Arrive Eday: 10:15

    Depart Eday: 10:20

    Arrive Sanday: 10:35

    Depart Sanday: 10:40

    Arrive Stronsay: 11:05

    Depart Stronsay: 11:10

    Arrive Kirkwall: 12:45

  • We would like to advise that the Nordic Sea will be providing a foot passenger service to Eday Sanday and Stronsay over the winter months.

    The timetable is available here or in our Kirkwall Office, and can be booked online or over the phone.

    This service will run from Monday 20th October to Saturday 28th December.
